Let's compare DSL!

I live in Bermuda. A small island off the coast of a little known country referred to as "The United States".

In Bermuda, we have DSL. We have had it for what seems like ages - I would say easily a year or two. That is like a matter of eons in the net world - trust me on that. I'm all about eons.

Well, I just learned that in THE United States, they ALSO have DSL. It is probably new there. Right after they went and got running water.

Well, I wanted to see what sorts of speeds those poor sods could get compared to us here on the cutting edge in Bermuda.

Well, it appears that in the US, you can get 4mbps down and who-the-fuck-cares up for 52.95.
Although to be fair, that was cable and we certainly don't have internet over cable here in Bermuda. Those backwoods USA folks are so silly with their cable.
But what you say - 3mbps down DSL for $42.95.

Now, I should really point out that I don't have any advanced degrees in math - but I'm pretty fucking sure that the $250 a month that I am paying for our 256kbps down and 128kbps up is... well, "more" than either of those US figures.

I would even go so far as to say that it is "a whole fucking shitload more" than either of those figures.

But at least we've got the fact that it is a whole lot slower here.

Take that United States - we have slower internet AND it costs way more!!

Suckers.

(to be fair, $90 of that $250 fee is for the phone line - whereas that $42.95 might not include the phone line in the US, which is probably at most like $20-30 extra if that)
