Good to know!
The guy showed up today on time and called ahead of time to let me know when he would be there.
He asked if I was getting a DVR today, and I said no the person on the line told me it was a card that needed to be put in for Tivo. He said okay and would be there soon.
He showed up soon after that and phoned in about my DVR. I had read that it would work with this upgrade, and he said that it definitely would. But the person at the other end of the line was new and said he didn't think it would work.
No matter, as this install guy brought up another (newer) box anyway and swapped that out.
He plugged it in, the guy on the other side flipped a switch and it was done.
It takes a few hours to update the software and then I will test it out - I'm at work now but will see when I get home.
As for anything being lost off of the old DVR, I was expecting that as I knew it would put a new OS over top of it - or in this case it is a whole new DVR unit.
No big deal to me as nothing we watch is terribly important.
I will get a better feel for it over the upcoming months.
I know our old DVR was truly awful, but then it went through a few updates and actually wasn't so bad recently.
So if the current Tivo is bad, maybe it will get updates as well.
I expected this to be harder - so far it has been easy. Which probably means that my place will be on fire when I get home.
